Dear Stephen, As a resident in the centre of Wimbledon I have very limited outside space, but long to grow vegetables for my own consumption. This is born from a growing need to eat healthier and also battle the rising costs of food. Allotments in the area are subject to up to a 10 year waiting list, with the quickest being 3-6 months but in remote locations. What can be done to provide more allotments in the Wimbledon central area.

Phil Geraghty

The provision of allotments is really a matter for the local council. Having read your message I have written to the council on this issue and will update this page as soon as I have had a response. If you would like to contact the relevant department in the meantime, please call 020 8545 3665. “

Not sure what I was expecting as a response, the reply was prompt, I feel more engaged, but I dont think im any closer to a solution, but I do feel like I have help available.

America’s claim to be the greatest democracy on earth has long left me wanting to tell them that they have some food on their cheek, but i am far too amused by it presence and slightly worried its actually a mole. So I let it go.

With 90% turnout in some areas or the US presidential election the Obama phenomenon has set a new precedent in global politics, that the right candidate can reach the disinterested and disengaged.

A UK election of Brown v’s Cameron in the coming years, is guaranteed to bore the bejesus of the majority and make a sham out of the democratic right of choice.

Local politics in the UK is dead, as a resident in london I have no engagement with my political representative, I don’t actually know who it is and don’t care. The national leaders of tomorrow have got to come from the local grass roots of politics, get the engagement going here and we will produce an finer breed of political leader for tomorrow, so democracy can indeed be great.
